HR 7575 To Authorize Army Corps Study Including Chain O’ Lakes Flooding

House passed Water Resources and Development Act of 2020, presently under Senate consideration, will authorize the Army Corps of Engineers to study the causes and propose cures for the increasingly damaging flooding happening annually along the Fox River watershed in Lake, McHenry and Kane counties in northeastern Illinois. The study funded in the legislation would gather information on how climate change and increasingly dense property development have contributed to more frequent and higher levels of flooding, and what engineering remedies could be used to protect property owners along the banks of the lakes and river in northeastern Illinois.
