Interest in redevelopment of the Catty property at 11117 South Church Street in downtown Huntley has been slow to emerge since the Village acquired the property for about $445,000.00 in 2017, as part of downtown redevelopment plans. Estimated costs of redeveloping the property range from $5.8 million to renovate the original building and demolish later additions, up to $9.9 million to demolish all structures on the property and erect a two story, 33,000 square foot building on the land. Asbestos remediation costs would add $50,000.00 to $80,000.00 to redevelopment expenses.

Some local McHenry County groups have proposed using the building as a train station in downtown Huntley should the proposed Amtrak passenger service extension to Rockford from Big Timber materialize along the trackage through downtown Huntley.
