Watch the Algonquin Village Board agenda for an as yet unscheduled upcoming vote on the 23 acre high density commercial and residential development approved unanimously by the Algonquin Planning and Zoning Commission recently. Troy Mertz, owner of the parcel at the northeast corner of Randall Road and Longmeadow Parkway proposes to turn his farmland into 11 commercial and retail buildings around a central park and entertainment hub, backed to the east by a 10,900 square foot clubhouse serving 302 apartment units in 8 buildings, 154 townhomes, and 56 single family homes just west of the Westfield community school property.

Opponents of the project, including Trustee Janis Jasper, object to its density, and doubt the need for additional retail space in the Village, which already has vacant retail properties on all sides.
