Developer Matt Fiascone Planning 33 Story Apartment Tower West Of The North Branch

Matt Fiascone’s Habitat Company LLC has signed a contract to buy Cassidy Tire’s four story brick building at 344 North Canal Street, tear it down, and put up a 33 story, 343 unit apartment tower on the site, to serve the growing population of office workers at companies like Google, McDonalds and Mondelez in the Fulton Market District just west of the North Branch of the Chicago River, subject to City Council approval of a zoning change to residential for the site. Projected construction cost for the apartment high rise, designed by Chicago based architects Solomon Cordwell Buenz, is $140 million to $150 million.
