District 156 McHenry High School $44 Million Expansion Moves Ahead

McHenry’s planning and zoning commission has given positive recommendation for McHenry High’s $44 million plan to make McHenry East’s campus for freshmen only, and add a 64,000 square foot expansion to McHenry West’s campus for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Work beginning at East campus this summer will include a new HVAC system, exterior and interior lighting, and new roofing, ceiling and flooring. West Campus work this summer will include 10 tennis courts, a 224 space expansion of the parking lot, tile work on the indoor pool and deck, and foundation work for the planned classroom addition.

Completion of the construction and the change of East campus to freshman only are projected for fall 2021.
