McHenry’s City Council is considering approval of a Thornton’s truck stop with liquor sales and video gaming at the corner of Chapel Hill Road and Route 120 in the city, a change from the Ricky Rocker’s filling station originally proposed for the site. Rick Heidner, owner of Gold Rush Gaming, would get up to $1 million in sales taxes rebated over 20 years in return for parking improvements at Riverside Chocolate Factory, a new entryway sign for the city, and a half mile extension of the existing municipal water main.
