Country Delight President Joe McMahon has announced plans to buy the shuttered Dean Foods plant in Huntley and convert it to be used for storage of milk and diary products distributed to approximately 400 grocery stores in the Chicagoland area. “This will be the flagship headquarters for Country Delight,” McMahon said. Country Delight delivers 52 million pounds of milk annually.

Closure of the plant by Dean Foods cost Huntley 131 jobs. Country Delight expect to hire between 75 to 105 workers at the proposed facility. In addition to repairs to the partially collapsed roof of the maintenance building on the south side of the facility, planned upgrades include exterior painting, office renovations, new dock doors, parking and landscaping. Anticipated truck traffic on Mill Street is only about one third of the truck usage during Dean Foods operations.
