The Village of Huntley is planning to expand its fire department facilities by adding a new 10.239 square foot fire station on 2.23 acres at the southeast corner of Dahmer Drive and Hennig Road to serve areas of the village from Sun city southward, as well as adding 27,800 square feet to the Village Hall police and fire complex at 11118 Main Street. Department Chief Scott Ravagnie says the new station south of Sun City could handle about 700 of the department’s 5,300 annual calls. Initial plans call for staffing the new station with three firefighters.
The Village Hall addition is proposed to house training facilities in the basement, offices on the first floor, and living quarters above the offices. Construction of the two new facilities could be paid for by $14 million accumulated in capital reserves by the district, with no new property tax assessments to support construction. Station 5 south of Sun City should be completed by the end of 2019, and the Village Hall addition should be finished in the summer of 2020.
