McHenry’s Water Tower Marina Under Redevelopment

McHenry resident Keith Carpenter of 5010 Woodman Avenue has incorporated KMMK Properties, Inc. for the purpose of acquiring and redeveloping the 6.5 acre, $1.6 million marina located at 3112 West Lincoln Street on the bank of the Fox River. The site has been vacant for about 8 years, with the piers deteriorating.

Carpenter plans 110 steel and concrete docks, adding a seawall and converting the 29,500 showroom into a bar and grill. He proposes to ultimately build a 3 story condominium on the north side of the property, pending municipal approval. McHenry City Administrator Derik Morefield praised the project, which has already begun demolition of the existing piers. “Anything that can provide people a way to start their boating day in McHenry, end their boating day in McHenry or create a reason for people to stop in McHenry is huge,” Morefield explained.
