County Considering Proposed Glacier’s End Addiction Rehabilitation Facility

The new owners of the 20,000 square foot, 19.3 acre Glacier’s End mansion at 19082 Dunham Road are seeking rezoning for a $5.2 million redevelopment of the palatial single family home, including seven bedrooms and four kitchens, as a 30 bed detoxification rehabilitation facility. Los Angeles based Transcend, Inc. presented the proposal to the McHenry County Board of Appeals recently.

Transcend’s founder Asher Gottesman testified the facility would employ a professional staff of 13, plus clerical and maintenance workers, and would not put up any signs indicating the presence of the facility in the neighborhood/.
