The City of Woodstock has issued a request for proposals to develop a solar farm on 15 acres of a sand and gravel pit within the municipal landfill just west of the intersection of Route 41 and Route 47. The proposed solar farm is a little over half a mile from a Commonwealth Edison substation. Other proposed local solar power facilities include a location outside Marengo, to be developed by Pennsylvania based Sun East Development, and a 10 acre portion of Lake in the Hills Airport, proposed by California based Cenergy Power.
