Walker’s proposed repeal of prevailing wage requirements for state funded infrastructure construction will cause veterans to lose 2,000 well paid construction jobs, according to Wisconsin American Legion Adjutant David Kurtz. “This is about fairness for veterans who have served our country nobly,” Kurtz said at a Madison news conference, “the loss of 2,000 jobs won’t go unnoticed.” Walker, who refuses to raise state motor fuel taxes, and claims fewer young people in Wisconsin are owning and driving cars, says, ‘we want to make sure we’re using every dollar wisely.”

Wisconsin Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke says, “There’s not enough revenues to keep up with the current expected demand.”
